VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR – Apps due may 12

Job Overview / Summary:

This unique position will be a staff member with City of Good but will work to build a volunteer program that serves a group of nonprofits – including Treasure Valley Canopy Network – all committed to a sustainable food system, active and engaged citizen volunteerism in our community and to benefit our environment, and a prosperous future for all. We are looking for someone who loves to build projects, programs and partnerships, is committed to our mission, and has a passion for service.

Hours/Schedule:

  • 40 hours per week
  • 60% remote, 40% in person

Compensation:

  • $42,000
  • Benefits eligible

Key Accountabilities:

  • Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers to ensure seamless program execution for both City of Good and Treasure Valley Canopy Network.
  • Programs include but are not limited to; Fuel Kits, Pantry Deliveries, Cafe Shakespeare, City of Trees Challenge and Boise Tree Captains, Earth Day, Arbor Day, Shade City Brewfest, and other events as assigned.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with volunteers and partner organizations.
  • Keeping all volunteer data correct and up to date.
  • Overseeing and managing Volunteer Local software and data.
  • Acting as a liaison between City of Good, Treasure Valley Canopy Network and community partners.
  • Planning and executing volunteer recognition events.
  • Tracking all volunteer hours in Bloomerang.
  • Creating and implementing Volunteer Handbook, training materials, application, and training sessions.

Job Requirements:

  • You are available to work in person for events and delivery days.
  • You are good at data entry, both accurate and quick.
  • You are great at planning and keeping track of details.
  • You have been a volunteer.
  • You like meeting people’s needs for assistance or information.
  • You are proficient in English.
  • You enjoy meeting the needs of multiple stakeholders and thrive in a fast-paced, self directed work environment.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Experience with and confident use of office software including spreadsheets, word processing, online meeting platforms (Zoom), project management platforms (Volunteer Local), and donor management (Bloomerang).
  • A sense of humor and an ease of communication.
  • A passion for City of Good’s and Treasure Valley Canopy Network’s missions.
  • An interest in dismantling traditional systems of charity that reinforce othering of those served in favor of building belonging, mutual respect, and community.

Key Working Relationships:

  • Position Reports to: City of Good Executive Director and works in close partnership with Treasure Valley Canopy Network Executive Director
  • Other Internal and/or external contacts
  • Internal: Regular interaction with staff and board
  • External: volunteers, community partners, program recipients
